Wednesday, August 10, 2022

In his July editorial "Covid-19 and Aging: Challenges and Opportunities" published in Journals of Gerontology: Medical Sciences, John W. Rowe, MD, examines how the outcomes of the Covid-19 pandemic on our aging population and how we failed older people during the ordeal. A lack of preparedness to protect older people ranged from inadequate understanding of the dynamics of the aging immune system to the inability to provide safe long-term care. The bitter lessons should lead to marshaling the resources and political and societal commitment needed to prevent repetition of this tragedy in the future.
